30 years of life on the world stage – Dance Theatre Igen Celje, the ambassador of dance theater.

Coreodrama “The Lady of the Camellias”, which has received the award for best dramaturgy at Teaterfest in Sarajevo in May 2010 and was invited as the first Slovenian play to host at the prestigious Venice Biennale Dance, and was selected to The world dance platform, which was represented by Vladimir Malakhova, continues to march on the international dance platforms and stages.

In the autumn triptych “The Lady of the Camellias” has toured on 19 International Platform of Contemporary Dance in Portugal and was invited to be part of a great spectacle and to be special guest of The Awards of the International Women’s Film Festival in Morocco,  so-called Marocco Oscars. The festival was a surplus in every sense, as it gathered a large number of movie stars from Africa, the event was also accompanied by french TV5Monde television.

Autumn triptych tours will end (2. November) on a Dance theater festival in Chile, which is one of main festivals of South America.

4th International Festival of Theatre and Dance ANTIFAZ / FINTDAZ 2010 has given special attention to the performance. The performance  was chosen it for his debut performance in the prison ALTO HOSPICIO Iquique, where  400 selected audience – prisoners (of 1900) viewed the show. South American performance was rewarded with great applause in a “strange” location. After the show we received a statuette.

After the return, new triptych will follow in Belarus, Netherlands and Egypt (November 2010 – February 2011).

30 let življenja na odrih sveta – PLESNI TEATER IGEN Celje, ambasador plesno gledališke umetnosti.

S predstavo – koreodramo “Dama s kamelijami”, katera je v mesecu maju prejela nagrado za najboljšo dramaturgijo na Teaterfestu v Sarajevu in bila povabljena kot prva slovenska predstava, ki je gostovala na prestižnem beneškem bienalu plesa, izbrana v svetovno platformo plesa ob predsedovanju Vladimira Malakhova, nadaljuejo svoj pohod po mednarodnih plesnih platformah in odrih.

V okviru JESENSKEGA TRIPTIHA je gostovala na 19. Mednarodni platformi sodobnega plesa na Portugalskem, ob podelitvi nagrad Mednarodnega festivala filma žensk v Maroku, tako imenovane maroške oskarje, kjer so na povabilo organizatorjev bili del velikega spektakla in uživali ekskluzivo kot posebni gostje festivala. Festival je bil presežek v vseh pomenih, saj se je na njem zbralo veliko število filmskih zvezd iz Afrike, sam dogodek pa je spremljala tudi frnacoska televizija TV5Monde.

Jesenski triptih gostovanj pa zaključilujemo (2.novembra) na plesno gledališkem festivalu v Čilah, ki je eden pomebnejših festivalov Južne Amerike.

4th International Festival of Theatre and Dance ANTIFAZ / FINTDAZ 2010 je predstavi namenil posebno pozornost, saj jo je izbral za premierno izvedbo v zaporu ALTO HOSPICIO  Iquique. Premiero si je ogledalo 400 izbranih gledalcev – zapornikov (od 1900). Južno Ameriška premiera je bila nagrajena z velikim aplavzom na nenavadni lokaciji, po predstavi pa smo prejeli kipec.

Jury of the 13th International Theater Festival: Miroslav Pilj, journalist and writer from Sarajevo, Muhammadreza Farzad, dramaturg and director from Teheran and Mersid Ramicevic, composer and lyrics writer from Sarajevo; had difficult assignment to select among ten author projects of artists from thirteen countries, those plays, which are held to affirm the innovation and originality.

The jury unanimously decided to give award, “Iron Goat”, for the best drama concept to Miss Mirjana Blažević Lešić, for dramaturgy of the play “The Lady of the Camellias”, (Dance theatre Igen, Celje, Slovenia), for her innovative theater approach that converts classic novel of Alexander Dima into refined dance moment. Provocation and avant-garde of this choreo-drama, (that was made in collaboration of artists from Slovenia, The Netherlands and Bosnia and Herzegovina), is revealed in successful transposing of literary piece in to choreo-drama with firm concept that, in chamber space for only 33 spectators, accentuates collision of intimate and public in dramatic life of Marguerite Gautier (in brilliant performance of Mojca Majcen).

A contemporary choreographic drama of the Dance Theatre  IGEN, “The Lady of the Camellias”, is based on the reinterpretation of the novel “The Lady of the Camellias” by Alexandre Dumas Junior. Even though our “Lady” is based on the novel, its setting and interpretation are original and authentic.

In collaboration with artists from Slovenia (Celje), Netherlands (The Hague) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo), we created a performance full of emotions and power of the modern movement, which engages all the senses of a spectator. 

Reading the “Lady” in my way I wanted to show a more conceptual approach to dance, adding either thought or feeling to every single movement of the body. The scene is ruled by powerful movements full of emotions, by vibrations coming from the inside and by constant gradation of movement. While the Lady by Dumas is tall, elegant and stylish, ours is tiny, powerful and erotic. As a modern courtesan, the Lady dances to lead us to a journey full of seduction, love and passion, faith and doubt, social intolerance, disease, and at the end, to death. To tell the story of Marguerite Gautier we touched all the crucial events in the novel. The performance is divided into four parts, representing four stages in four seasons: spring-seduction, summer-love, fall-pain, winter-dying.

Our “Lady”, Mojca Majcen, is a mistress of the stage and the space around it. She is joy and beauty, but also sorrow and pain. This is undoubtedly her stellar moment.  “He”, Tomaž Koren, is a true revelation, the Lady’s support, her shadow, her dream and her reality. His role is difficult and complex but very important for the whole show. The three “Mademoiselles”, Katja, Pia and Tara, give color to the performance with a lot of energy, power of movement and words they utter. The dramatic voice of the Lady, Gina Landor and the rich, deep voice of the Gravedigger, Zoran Lešić lead us to the jist of life and will resonate in the ears of the audience long after. The modern directing and choreography by Igor Iggy Jelen; the finely selected music as the basis for the progress of the story; the functionality of the set design; the luxurious and elegant costumes and glamorous make-up, all of these provide this piece with a long and successful theatrical life.

I am sure that the audience, who appreciate dance drama, purity of movement and actuality of the story, will enjoy each and every moment of our performance.

It is important for the Dance Theatre IGEN to remain in the domain of big plays and to score a great success like it has achieved with “Three Sisters” and “House 22” as well as to continue to produce dance plays of “big ideas” as this latest one – “The Lady of the Camellias”.

Some Slovenian artists have soon after the celebration of the New Year’s Eve pushed up their sleeves. Igor Jelen, choreographer and designer of numerous events, and fashion designer Urška Drofenik have been presenting in Switzerland.

In the ski center of St. Moritz they have offered a fashion show, where ladies and gentlemen admired Urška’s latest Couture collection UD-2010th. Besides the glamorous clothes from quality materials, the visitors were also ascinated by directon and scenario. Iggy again took care of the selection of the brilliant models for fashion catwalk. Great dancer Mitja Benčina was also performing with Italian pianist Antonio Davi.

Slovenian beauty – breath taking beauty

On the fashion catwalk Miss Iris Mulej, Ukrainian dancer Nadiya Bychkova,  fashion model Katarina Jurkovič and cute redhead model Karin Škufca were seen. Grand applause have received Mirela Korać, Miss Universe 2009, Aida Muratović, 1 companion Miss Universe 2009, Miss Austria 2007 Christine Reiler.
 
Among the guests a lot of important people were seen, such as Bojan Grobovšek Slovenian ambassador and his wife, who has closely lokked each creation. Maybe we will see Bojan’s wife dressed in the evening fashion creation Ursa Drofenik on the upcoming events.

Nekateri slovenski umetniki so takoj za silvestrskim slavjem ponovno zavihali rokave. Igor Jelen, koreograf  in snovalec številnih prireditev, in modna oblikovalka Urška Drofenik sta prvi teden novega leta navduševala v Švici.

V mondenem smučarskem središču St. Moritzu sta izbranim gostom ponudila modno predstavo, na kateri so lahko dame in gospodje občudovali najnovejšo Urškino kolekcijo U.D.-Couture 2010. Poleg glamuroznih oblek iz kakovostnih materialov sta dih jemala tudi izvirna režija in scenarij. Iggy je ponovno poskrbel, da so se po bleščeči modni brvi sprehodile prve dame slovenske lepote. Še pred njimi pa je predvsem predstavnice nežnejšega spola navduševal plesalec Mitja Benčina, ki se je po odru luksuznega hotela Carlton gibal v ritmu žive glasbe. To je ustvarjal italijanski pianist Antonio Davi.

Slovenske lepotice jemale dih

Po modni brvi so se sprehodile večkratna miss Iris Mulej, ukrajinska plesalka Nadiya Bychkova, televizijska voditeljica in manekenka Katarina Jurkovič in prisrčna rdečelaska Karin Škufca. Velikega aplavza pa so bile deležne tudi Mirela Korać, miss universe 2009, Aida Muratović, 1. spremljevalka miss universe 2009, in miss Avstrije 2007 Christine Reiler.
 
Med gosti je bilo zaslediti veliko pomembnežev. Manjkal ni niti slovenski ambasador Bojan Grobovšek s soprogo, ki si je pozorno ogledal vsako kreacijo. Morda pa bomo Bojanovo soprogo na eni od prihajajočih prireditev vendarle opazili v večerni modni stvaritvi Urše Drofenik.

After roaming of the Dance Theatre Igen CELJE in Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, and Cyprus, the dancers returned from 11 days of a successful summer touring in Morocco, in the capital city called Rabat, where the World festival of dance and arts was organised.

Igor Jelen-Iggy – Dance – annual personality of the dance and the winner of the award “POVODNI MOZ“, was in Morocco with his dancing theatre Igen Celje for the third time in the last decade. First meeting, that was nine years ago, they were visiting the King of Morocco. Again he was welcomed with a lot of honor, respect and was greatly expected to perform seven performances in the Festival.

He was the Festival personality and has presented specifility among the ten participating countries – an extraordinary dance theater expressiveness and diversity in the performance “Kure”, which since 2006 was hosting on the world stages.

Directed by Igor Jelen, choreography by Bojana Mišić and by seven dancers of the Dance Theater Igen (Eva Jankovič, Tara Jeršič, Eva up, Pia Blackberries, Katja Verdev, Tjasa Strašek and Katarina Slapnik).

Choreography of young artists from Slovenia was awarded with ovations of applause, TV recording, and with many interviews and with winning the major prizes at the festival gala closing. Their performance was also on the TV.

For the third consecutive year, season over the summer period of the Dance Theater Igen Celje is not interrupted and the creation with the detented doors is in intensive ongoing training for the premiere at 30 years of life on the world stages (preformance “Lady of the Camellias“) and in  Avgust  “21 Summer dance school Piran”.

PO GOSTOVANJU PLESNEGA TEATRA IGEN CELJE na NIZOZEMSKEM, v ŠPANIJI in TURČIJI ter CIPRU, so se plesalci vrnili iz poletnega 11 dnevnega uspešnega gostovanja v Maroku, kjer je v prestolnici – mestu Rabat potekal svetovni festival plesa in umetnosti.
 
Igor Jelen-Iggy – plesna osebnost leta in dobitnik nagrade »POVODNI MOŽ«, se je v Maroku s svojim Plesnim teatrom IGEN Celje predstavil tretjič v zadnjem desetletju, kjer so ga po prvem srečanju pred devetimi leti pri kralju Maroka, ponovno sprejeli z veliko častjo, spoštovanjem  in z navdušenjem pričakovali devet predstav v okviru festivala.

Imenovanje festivalske osebnosti in posebnost med desetimi udeleženimi državami, izredna plesno-gledališka izraznost in drugačnost v koreografiji  predstave »KURE«, katera že od leta 2006 gostuje na odrih sveta.
                                                                                 
Režija Igor Jelen,  koreografija Bojana Mišić in v izvedbi sedmih plesalk Plesnega teatra IGEN (Eva Jankovič, Tara Jeršič, Eva Razgor, Pia Robida, Katja Verdev, Tjaša Strašek in Katarina Slapnik).

Koreografijo mladih umetnikov iz Slovenije so nagradili z ovacijami aplavzov, tv snemanji, mnogimi intervjuji in s podelitvijo velike nagrade festivala ob gala zaključku in tv prenosu v prestolnici kraljevega Maroka.

Že tretje leto zapored se sezona PLESNEGA TEATRA IGEN Celje skozi poletni čas ne prekinja in za priprtimi vrati kreacije intenzivno potekajo vaje za premiero ob 30 letnici življenja na odrih sveta (celovečerna predstava »Dama s kamelijami«) in v avgustu 21 plesna kolonija – Piran.

Dance theatre IGEN Celje has presented its new show “I wish…or childrens parliament dictates the world”, in fabulous performance of twenty dancers, coreograpfy by Mojca Majcen, directed by Igor Jelen. Ten dancers have performed the choreography that excited visitors of the 40th MOS, Home fair in Ljubljana and hosting in Bologna and Rimini fairs in Italy.

After the European handball final, where MIK was one of the main sponsors, there was a short dance movie made in MIK salon in Ljubljana (sixty screenings).

Story:

NINE YEARS AGO, a time when Iggy taught two seasons in Piran, Trieste and Koper. Than 14-year old Tijuana Križman “fell in love in dance” and with hard work graduated in six months from lower ballet school. With spirit driving her and because of her love to dance she graduated from  SGBŠ Maribor. Mastered the technique, used her talent and continued her education at Milan Ballet Academy.Z veliko volje, želje do plesa in odrekanjih je nadaljevala, ter zaključila šolanje na SGBŠ v Mariboru. Odlično je osvojila tehniko, izkoristila talent in pridnost ter nadaljevala šolanje na Akademiji v Milanu.

Today:

Competition of Slovenian ballet dancers 2007.
Won the gold plaque and first place together with Grand Prix for max 100 points .
Currently dances as soloists in SNG Opera and Ballet Maribor and in Dance Theatre IGEN.

Nepozabni performance svetovne ikone pop-a!

-70 ton odra. 200 ton tehnike. 26 kamionov. 18 minibusov. 2 aviona. 600 kostumov. 30 kostumov za zvezdo. 4 asistenti med performancem Madonne, 27 odličnih plesalcev, gibalcev, akrobatov, performarjev. 131 tehnikov. 1000 ur vaj pred začetkom svetovne turneje. Razprodani koncerti svetovne turneje. 400.000 wattov energije.

Oder v obliki modne piste, do katere se spusti iz stropa. Madonna se približuje občinstvu med show-om do 1 metra. Začetni spust iz neba v viseči 2 toni težki krogli v vrednosti dveh milijonov dolarjev.

Dvourni show je politično obarvna predstava ob izredni povezavi plesa, igre, glasbe-novega albuma Confessions tour, z dodatki odličnih dramaturških filmov in kostumografije J.P.G.

Igy je za rojstni dan povabil svojo drago dolgoletno prijateljico, sodelavko in plesalko na Gala koncert Madonne v Paris, kjer sta se noro zabavala in neskoncno uživala.

Tina je povabilo, za katerega je izvedela preko tv medijev, seveda sprejela in imela sta se nepozabno…

Pripravila sta vroč poletni intervju v ljubljanskem Tivoliju.

Na letošnje Victorje je prišla pevka elegantno oblečena in v družbi svojega koreografa Igorja Jelena, ki ga bomo videli tudi v videospotu za skladbo “Mudi se mi”.
